Sort of related, but not really.
I occasionally do work at an Aluminium Smelter.
One thing they don’t have anywhere on the site is cobwebs.
One of the chemistry boffins in the lab told me that this is because there are traces of Aluminium Flouride (AlFl3) in the air and the spiders don’t like it.
(small quantities of AlFl3 are added during the smelting process to stabilise temperatures … I think)

My father was born and grew up in that region. I don’t know if that explains anything.
